Univeristy of Ulster

Technology and knowledge transfer and commercial exploitation of ideas are promoted by our Office of Innovation through a range of initiatives and ongoing research and consultancy with business and industry.

We are a major contributor to the Research and

Development capacity within Northern Ireland and we support local business and industry. The 2008 Research Assessment Exercise confirmed the strength and quality of our research and the advances that we are continually making.

We make a leading contribution to lifelong learning (via eLearning), widening access to education for all - enhancing the region's knowledge base.

We are committed to excellent research with significant cultural, economic, environmental, health, public policy and societal impact both regionally, nationally and internationally.

Our research is reflected in a range of impact case studies listed below, showing how our research is making a difference and why it has been recognised in theResearch Excellence Framework 2014 as being outstanding across a wide range of disciplines.

Companies of all sizes and individual entrepreneurs can access an extensive portfolio of technologies and early stage ideas / concepts that are available for licencing or in some cases further collaborative development.

The technologies showcased are at various stages of our stage gate development process and therefore we have created several licencing options ranging from Easy Access (free of charge) IP licences to full royalty bearing commercial licence arrangements.

We also offer exclusive and non- exclusive evaluation licences and these allow for a period of time (e.g. six months) to explore further the commercial potential of a particular technology.
